Dr David Welsh received his medical degree from the prestigious University of Cape Town in 1989. He pursued a surgical fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons of England, before moving back to South Africa to complete a Neurosurgery fellowship in 2000.
In 2002, Dr Welsh registered his private practice in Pinelands and he has been running it successfully ever since. His areas of interest include spinecraniocervical junction and neuro-oncology.
Outside of his practice, Dr Welsh is the secretary and treasurer of the SA Spine Society and is on the editorial board of the European Spine Journal. He also assists as a part time consultant in UCT’s neurosurgery division and is the head of Green Firm and Neurospine.
